Work on our new core accommodation service is almost completed

Contractors Surgo have now finished on site and with only some minor work remaining we are hopeful that the new service will be ready to open by the end of July.

All flats are now fully furnished and ready for the new occupants. Bedroom and dining furniture is from Your Homes Newcastle with the soft furnishing from IKEA.

When the plans were agreed we were not aware that we would have the opportunity to lease the whole of the property. Once this became clear we were able to increase numbers we can support by converting an office space into an additional two bed flat. We can now offer accommodation to 13 individuals across four flats. All bedrooms are light and airy with plenty of natural light and have ensuite facilities. The living room and kitchen are shared.

We want to retain the community feel created in our present service in the new development and to help in this there’s communal space within the building. A laundry on the ground floor, close to the staffed reception, and an area with IT suit, large screen TV, pool table, communal kitchen, etc. on the first floor.

With the space and facilities available the ability to provide training and activities will be greatly enhanced and once C-19 restrictions are eased we hope to see other organisations using the building. We are very pleased with the standard of the accommodation and training area and look forward to the day when we can begin to deliver our accommodation and support service from the new building.
