Help from Tesco Community Champion

As with many people we support, a young woman - Rachel* - entered our accommodation service with nothing more than the clothes she stood-up in. After being provided with toiletries, towels, etc. in our welcome pack, a member of staff then supported her to visit our local Tesco store to meet the Community Champion.

The Community Champion is a member of Tesco staff who has responsibility for community involvement and support, responding to requests for assistance from community groups and members of the public.

Having introduced themselves and explained the circumstances that led Rachel to need our help, the Community Champion invited Rachel to select up to £30 worth of clothing. She left with new underwear, pyjamas, a t-shirt and shoes. And a smile on her face.

As with everyone in our service, Rachel has also benefitted from hot nutritious meals prepared using items from the Tesco weekly food donation, received each Tuesday evening.
